Welcome to the Christ & Culture Community.

Each week we seek to inspire, challenge, energize, and inform you with a provocative mix of reflections on what it means to follow Christ in today’s world.  You’ll find news stories, ministry ideas, book/film reviews, quotable quotes, and a forum for sharing ideas and debating issues.  We look forward to adding your voice to the ePistle.  Join us today!

Love justice, do mercy!

Threads of Hope assists the economically oppressed in under-developed countries to establish home enterprises that will provide an income, through the development of products that can be sold world-wide. Funds generated through sales and donations will primarily be used to help meet the physical, educational and spiritual needs of the communities where the products are made.

Highlights, News & Events

Two Pennsylvania events for caregivers are to be held in September: The Divine Power of Inclusion & Friendship will frame the topics of ethics as they apply to professional caregivers and the gift of friendship for people with disabilities. Running on Empty? Gathering to Be Filled will support those who support homeless mothers.

Christians for Biblical Equality’s one-day conference, “Women in Christian History: Building on a Legacy,” will examine a world in which those most dedicated to the gospel were also those who broke cultural norms regarding gender. On September 25, outside Chicago, come hear about topics such as female leadership within the nation of Israel, the early evangelicals as first-wave feminists, protocols of first-century marriage, archeological evidence for women in ministry, and methods of leadership in the church today.  Speakers include Gilbert Bilezikian, Lynn Cohick, Mimi Haddad, Dorothy Irvin, and Alan F. Johnson. For more information or to register for the conference, visit CBEInternational.org.

The National Conference on Christian Apologetics will take place this year in Kansas City on Oct. 8-9 and Charlotte on Oct. 15-16.

It’s not too early to start getting ready for the 2010 Micah Challenge on October 10.  Organize a Lend a Hand event and collect hand prints at conferences, concerts, on your campus, in Sunday School, or at other events between now and 10.10.10. Visit the website for resources, then register your Lend a Hand event.

Celebrate your commitment to end hunger with Bread for the World Sunday on October 17 or another Sunday in the fall. FREE resources to help your church participate are now available to order or download (in Spanish, too).

Curious about the stories behind the statistics indicating that young adults are more disenchanted with the church than ever, Jim Henderson, Todd Hunter and Craig Spinks sought out, sat down with, and listened to dozens of young people from across the country. This book/DVD is great for starting discussions.
