Bipartisan Immigration Reform Urged by Evangelical Leaders
On May 13, the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) published a full-page advertisement in Roll Call, a newspaper widely read by politicians and staffers on Capitol Hill. The ad was signed by 13 senior evangelical leaders and calls for bipartisan action this year to overhaul the nation's broken immigration system. The NAE initiative seeks to build on growing momentum among evangelicals in support of immigration reform since the passage of state legislation in Arizona last month. We hope you'll add your own support to this effort. Interfaith Leaders Send "A Call for Political Courage, Vision, Leadership, and Faith" to President and Congress Nearly 150 national and state/regional organizations and 26 national faith leaders signed a February 24 letter to the President and Members of Congress asking them to "complete the task at hand" for a comprehensive health care reform bill. Signers include Ron Sider, President of Evangelicals for Social Action.
A Covenant for Civility For many months, a diverse group of the nation's faith leaders with varied theological and political beliefs have been praying and discerning how they might contribute to a more civil and moral tone in the nation's political discourse. A Covenant for Civility: Come Let Us Reason Together, has been released and calls for that better civic discourse.
